UKHRUL: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has denied any involvement in the May 13 ambush near Kotzim in Kangpokpi district that killed three Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI) church leaders, calling social media claims linking its cadres to the incident “baseless” and “fabricated.”

The three victims were identified as Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun Lhouvum and Pastor Paogoulen Sitlhou.

In a statement, the NSCN said no member of the organisation was involved in the attack and alleged that the claims circulating on social media were aimed at disrupting the peace process, misdirecting investigations and creating communal tensions.

The organisation also rejected claims concerning an individual identified in the posts as MS Chekneichung Chiru, alias Achung. The NSCN said there was no person by that name in its ranks and described the reference as “fictitious” and defamatory.

The NSCN said it supports the bereaved families and the Christian community following the deaths and welcomed the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) takeover of the investigation.
