Mumbai: The Naga Students’ Union Mumbai (NSUM) celebrated its 53rd Annual Nagas Meet cum Freshers’ Day under the theme “Rooted in Traditions, Sustainable in Action” at Mumbai University’s Marathi Bhasha Bhavan Hall. In a bid to promote sustainability, the event was plastic-free and highlighted the integration of cultural heritage with modern sustainable practices.
The event featured distinguished guests, including chief guest Hepuni Bismarck, Deputy General Manager of the State Bank of India, and performances by prominent Naga artists like rapper Moko Koza and the band Britto KC. The program was divided into formal and informal sessions, with the former including speeches, prayers, and the first round of the Mr. and Ms. Freshers competition.
In his keynote speech, Bismarck emphasized the importance of adaptability, innovation, and recognizing the diversity within the Naga community. He urged attendees to embrace opportunities while preserving their cultural identity.
The informal session saw musical performances that captivated the audience, with Britto KC’s blend of rock and pop and Moko Koza’s rap being standout acts. The night culminated in the crowning of Mr. Mez Longhcar as Mister Fresher, while Ms. _ took the title of Miss Fresher after a rigorous interview process.

The event left attendees with a deeper appreciation for their cultural roots, community, and environmental stewardship. NSUM successfully conveyed the message of unity, sustainability, and pride in Naga identity.
