One ASI of the NDRF found dead while on Dzukou valley fire duty; many condoles

An ASI of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) team who was deployed to tackle the Dzukou valley fire was found dead in his tent this morning on Tuesday. He was reportedly on duty till last Monday evening at the base camp while trying to douse the Dzukou valley fire. The deceased is identified as one N Binoi Meitei aged about 40 years, S/o Ibochouba, Luwangsamgbam Leikai

Reports said that he had no complain of health complicacies till yesterday but was found dead early this morning in the tent where the NDRF, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and state police personnel reportedly slept at base camp, some 13-14 Kms away from Mao Police station.

The death body was brought to Senapati District Hospital where a condolence service was held before his mortal remains was taken to JNIMS for post mortem.

L. Dikho, Minister, PHED, L Kailun, ADGP, DC, Senapati, SP Senapati, CMO, Senapati, CSOs Senapati including the Naga People’s Organization (NPO), Senapati District Women’s Association (SDWA) and Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) offered wreaths and prayer at District Hospital, Senapati before sending the mortal remains to Imphal for post Mortem and final rites at his native home in Imphal.

The cause of the death is still not known till filing of this report. Binoi Meitei joined SSB in 1999 and was currently serving in the NDRF on deputation.

Meanwhile, under the circumstances surrounding the death of the ASI, Senapati district magistrate has issued an order on Tuesday to depute a detailed inquiry with N. Leisan, MCS, Sub-Divisional Officer/SDM, Senapati to conduct the post mortem examination with video coverage in the presence of the concerned Police Officer as per law of the land, the order read.
