Shillong: Director of Health Services (MI) of Meghalaya, Dr. Aman War informed on Wednesday that a total of 204 people have tested positive for COVID-19 till date in the Star Cement cluster in Lumshnong under East Jaintia Hills district.
With the number of COVID-19 cases rising in Meghalaya, Dr War said that the active case tally has now reached 1,902 after 159 more people tested positive fotr the disease on Wednesday.
East Khasi Hills registered 106 cases and that includes 2 health workers, 9 armed and paramilitary forces (A/PF), 93 high risk contacts, 1 returnee and an ILI case.
The other fresh cases include 33 from Star Cement cluster and1 from Lumshnong in East Jaintia Hills, 7 high risk contact and a returnee from Ri Bhoi, 4 A/PF and 2 high risk cases in West Garo Hills, 1 health worker and a high risk in West Khasi Hills, 1 returnee and a high risk case in South West Khasi Hills and a single cases of a high risk was detected in East Garo Hills.
Dr. War informed that 1 more case (who is a high risk contact of a driver) was also detected from the official residence of the Chief Minister.
Informing reporters on the COVID recovery status, the Health Service Director informed that 74 more people have been recovered on Wednesday, which include 40 from East Khasi Hills, 15 from East Garo Hills, 12 from West Garo Hills, 4 from West Khasi Hills, 2 from South Garo Hills and 1 from North Garo Hills. He also said that so far, the state has recorded a total of 4,195 positive cases of which 1,902 are active, 2,264 have recovered and 29 have died due to the viral infection.
East Khasi Hills has a total of 1,252 cases of COVID-19 (1,008 civilians and 244 A/PF), 237 in East Jaintia Hills, 160 in Ri Bhoi, 127 in West Garo Hills, 18 in South Garo Hills, 14 in West Jaintia Hills, 12 each in West Khasi Hills and North Garo Hills, 11 in South West Garo Hills and 3 in East Garo Hills.
A total of 1, 20,576 samples have been tested till date of which 1, 15,611 samples tested negative and test results for 770 are awaited. Since the inception of the pandemic in the State and till date, 37, 080 people have entered Meghalaya from outside the state.
