PHERZAWL: The District Administration of Pherzawl in collaboration with the District Health Society on Wednesday launched the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2026 alongside a Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening and awareness programme at the district headquarters, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening public healthcare delivery.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Anunay Anand emphasised that simple preventive measures such as proper handwashing, maintaining hygiene, and timely rehydration using ORS can effectively combat diarrhoeal diseases. He highlighted that consistent awareness and basic communication by health workers can bring significant improvements in public health outcomes.
The programme featured live demonstrations by ASHA workers, showcasing preventive healthcare practices. A large number of beneficiaries availed free medicines during the camp, addressing various health concerns.
The event witnessed active participation from the Pherzawl Village Authority and all Accredited Social Health Activists under SC Pherzawl, underlining their crucial role in grassroots healthcare delivery.
In a parallel initiative, an NCD screening and awareness programme focusing on the health risks associated with drug abuse was conducted. The initiative aimed at early detection of non-communicable diseases while sensitising the public about the growing threat of substance abuse. Officials underscored the need for coordinated efforts and community participation to effectively tackle these challenges.
Additionally, the District Programme Officer of ICDS Pherzawl T Chingngaihlian conducted a special awareness and enrollment drive under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), during which four beneficiaries were enrolled on the spot.
The event marked another step in the district’s ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare outreach and promote a healthier, drug-free society.
Superintendent of Police T. Lalboi Haokip, ADC Zousanglur Joute, District-Level Officers, MO i/c CHC Parbung, Dr. Thanglienzoul, District Child Health Officer Dr. I. Lalmalsawm Pulamte and DPM (DHS/NHM) Zenngaihlun also attended the event.
