Chandel, Jan 9: With the motive to bring together all the offspring of Phiran village and celebrate their success in life, though sheltered far and wide, the Phiran (Lonkhu) Āngsung Alum 2025 was held at Phiran Village in Chandel district on Thursday.
Attended by hundreds of the offspring of the Phiran village, the celebration also saw the attendance of Ng. Lorho, president of the United Naga Council as chief guest, Rev. James Tangshel, Director of Catholic Medical Centre (CMC), Koirengai; Lh. Mojesh, AI, ZEO Chandel among many others.

Addressing the meet, L. Wolring, patron of the event, informed that Phiran (Lonkhu) village is one of the oldest villages of the Anal Nagas and dates back to about 100 AD. And celebrated under the theme, “Lonkhu is Shining Forever”, the convenor informed that the theme has been chosen to celebrate the success of the offspring of the village.
Though sheltered far and wide with many having moved on and living in other villages, they have made a name for themselves in various fields, be it education, medical line or even in the religious line, L. Wolring said. The theme is chosen so that we may continue to celebrate such success and shine forever, he said.

As chief guest, Ng. Lorho, the president of the United Naga Council (UNC) appreciated the village and said that such historic villages should be well preserved. He especially called for supporting, acknowledging and respecting those who stay back in the villages and protect it.
We have to respect those people who stay back in villages such as this and guard and protect it. Without them, we would lose our history, the UNC President said. They are the ones preserving our history, he said.

Fr. James also spoke the importance of God and human relationship in such celebrations. He called on the people to always remember God.
As part of the celebration, NG. Lorho also unveiled a monolith and released a Souvenir titled ‘Phiran (Lonkhu) Āngsung Alum 2025’.
The occasion also saw Voices in Tapestry, Lh. Tharin enthralling their audience with their amazing voices while the youths of Y/Khutha presented the Anal Naga Cultural dance.
