PLA cadre arrested in Thoubal district

A cadre of the proscribed militant group People’s Liberation Army of Manipur (PLA) was arrested by a team of police commando today. The arrested person is identified as Chingtham Romio Meitei (42 years) alias, Bijando S/O Ch. Nabakeshwor Meitei of Kongba Laishram Leikai, Imphal East. Army No. 3310.

He was arrested from general area Salungpham near Ngatensoi bridge at 8:45 am.

According to Police report, around 7:45 am police received a reliable information about the presence of some active members of banned outlawed organisation RPF/PLA in and around Salungpham area. Acting on the information a team of police commando immediately rushed to Salungpham Maning Leikai area and conducted random frisking and checking of suspected persons.

During the operation a youth was seen walking from Salungpham towards Kairembikok near Ngatensoi Bridge in a very suspicious manner. The person was detained for verification. On proper verification the person was found out to be cadre of RPF/PLA cadre.

The arrested PLA cadre disclosed the police that he joined RPF/PLA in the month of February 2016 through one (L) Bikramjit of Arong Nongmaikhong. He underwent 60 days basic training at Rijik Camp, Myanmar and presently holding a rank of s/s Corporal and working under the command of s/s Lieutenant Pari of 253 Battalion of RPF/PLA.
The arrested PLA cadre was handed over to Heirok police station.
