PM Modi to visit train accident site in Odisha, tweets about the mishap

Crash involving three trains in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday evening killed over 200, injuring over 900. The horrific train accident reports say was due to colliding of a passenger train, the Coromandel Shalimar Express which derailed after hitting a parked goods train leading to crashing of another train, the Yesvantpur-Howrah Superfast.

Odisha train mishap blood donation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed his dismay over the train accident that claimed several lives. “Distressed by the train accident in Odisha. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon…,” PM Modi tweeted.

PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation to take stoke of the situation in the wake of the train mishap in Odisha.

“Aspects relating to rescue, relief and medical attention to those affected were discussed in the review meeting,” said official sources.

PM Modi will be visiting the train accident site in Odisha on Saturday to meet the injured at Cuttack hospital. A high-level probe panel has been set up to look into the accident, reports say.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also expressed his sadness over the Odisha mishap. “Saddened to hear about the tragic train accident in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured,” Virat Kohli wrote.
