Dimapur: Nagaland based political party, the Rising People’s Party (RPP) has launched an online signature campaign for President’s Rule in Nagaland state today.
The newest political party in Nagaland said that on May 12, 2022, the party had submitted a representation to the Government of India pleading for President’s Rule in Nagaland “on grounds of financial emergency in the state.”
According to the RPP, the situation has worsened a lot since then, “and it is only befitting that the RPP continues to raise the issue of the President’s Rule on behalf of the suffering public.”
Thus, according to the RPP, the Party has launched the online campaign to gather at least 10,000 signatures through the online portal change.org. It further said that the aim of this petition campaign is to collect the signatures and submit them to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to take resolute actions.
One of the “dishonourable achievements” of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) coalition government of Nagaland, according to the RPP, is that the state is “the worst performing state under 6 parameters (poverty, health, affordable energy, sustainable cities, industries and infrastructure) as per SDGI index of NITI Aayog 2021.”
The RPP also said that another “dishonourable achievement” of the UDA government of Nagaland is that, it is the worst performing state as per State Energy and Climate index (SECI) as per NITI Aayog 2022. Nagaland ranks 33rd out of 35 states and UTs.

The RPP further said that Nagaland has a perpetual deficit state budget with the latest being minus Rs 2212.74 crore for the year 2022-23.
The party also said that non-payment of salaries of 130,000 government employees, including teachers, police personnel and national mission employees is another “dishonourable achievement” of the Nagaland government.
Another “dishonourable achievement” is the “fiscal irresponsibility” as per the latest CAG Report including fraudulent withdrawals amounting to thousands of crores of rupees in almost all the government departments, the party also said.
According to the RPP, Nagaland ranks as the worst performing state under the National Health Index 2019-20 (NITI Aayog).
It also said that Nagaland University is ranked as the worst in the NE region with scores in the151-200 band under National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
As per the latest NITI Aayog India Innovative Index 2021 released on July 21, 2022, Nagaland is the worst and the last ranked State among the “NE and Hilly States” – comprising of 10 states, the RPP pointed out.
Another ail the RPP pointed out is that the Nagaland High Court building remains incomplete even after 15 years.
The RPP further said that Nagaland is presently the only state in India without a medical college.
According to the RPP, there is a breakdown of law and order situation with increase in extortions, fuel adulteration and entrenchment of the syndicate system in the economy.
The party then said that the rise in international smuggling cases, particularly with Kohima and Dimapur area functioning as base of operations is also an issue of concern.
The RPP then stated that the imposition of President’s Rule in Nagaland is the only solution to the ills of fiscal mismanagement and systemic corruption plaguing the state under the present UDA coalition government.
