Senapati, April 3: A talk on the development and promotion of Poula using technology was organized by the Poumai Literature Society on Monday at Mt. Pisgah College, Senapati. The talk was held on the topic: Development of the Poumai Naga language using technology.
Dr. Priyankoo Sarmah, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati and Dr. Abhishek Shrivastava, Department of Design, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati were the keynote speakers of the event.

Leaders from Poumai frontal organizations, the Poumai Naga Union (PNU), Poumai Naotumai Me (PNM) and Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM) along with research scholars, academia’s from the community and students of the host college attended the significant event.
Speaking at the event, Professor Priyankoo Sarmah lauded the Poumai Literature Society for taking a giant leapt towards the promotion of Poumai while stressing the importance of incorporation of technology in the development of local languages. He emphasized the need for linguists, local organizations such as Poumai Literature Society and policy makers to collaboratively work together in the promotion of languages. He also highlighted how the provisions in the New Education Policy, 2020 has facilitated the importance of local languages.
Dr. Abhishek Shrivastava spoke on the role of good design in creating languages technologies and educational materials for the promotion of local languages. “Technology can be effectively use to create real and enjoyable atmosphere for language learners and increase their language awareness”, he said.
The event ended with a discourse between the visiting speakers and the participants on future collaboration for the promotion of Poula.
