Proposed 12 hours Total Shutdown in Senapati district called by the Senapati CSOs from midnight of September 14 to 12 noon of September 15 has been rescheduled from 6 am of September 15 to 6 pm of the same day. Unconfirmed source has also said that the proposed Go To Hills 2.0 to be held at Maram centre has been postponed.

The reschedule was made after an emergency meeting of the district CSOs in endorsement to the boycott call of Go To Hills 2.0 by All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM).

It is learnt from reliable sources of the district CSOs that no program of “Go to Hills 2.0” will be permitted to organise in the district in any manner. The CSOs also appeal the general public of the district to cooperate the proposed total shutdown and asked not to participate the said program.

On the other hand, the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) had appreciated the stand of the district CSOs in support of the boycott call to “Go to Hills 2.0”.

This was stated in an appreciation note issued from the department of the Information and Publicity wing of the tribal student body.

Earlier on September 13, a consultative meeting with the CSOs of the Senapati together with ATSUM was held where the meeting resolved to boycott the program in protest against the state Govt’s refusal to introduce the Manipur (Hill Areas) ADC Bill, 2021 in the state assembly and the unscrupulous reason over the withdrawal of the unconstitutional order of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker.

The press note further mentioned that the decision of the district administration, Senapati to reschedule its “Go to Hills 2.0” program only shows its inability to withstand the staunch opposition exhibited by the district CSOs, Senapati.

ATSUM lauded the resilience and resolve of the Senapati CSOs in showing unity and integrity for the cause of the tribal people’s movement, it added.
