The Seva Samman Award was given to eminent spiritual leader and Upanishadic scholar Raseshwari Devi Ji at the Spiritual Conclave of Odisha on 23rd February 2026, highlighting her ongoing contributions to both spiritual education and social consciousness. The award was presented by Surama Padhy, the Hon’ble Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Odisha, in front of numerous assembled dignitaries, including leaders of spirituality, government, and arts/culture.
The Seva Samman Award recognized Raseshwari Devi Ji’s long-term commitment to making the principles outlined in the Upanishads available to all groups in society. Her approach to educating people about these principles has included public talk (discourse), meditative practice, and programming focused on how to apply these spiritual teachings in daily life. The organizers of the conclave have noted that through her outreach, she has helped many participants become more aware of ethical connections, self-discipline, and ways to improve themselves from a spiritual perspective.
The conclave, which was co-hosted by both MBC TV and BS TV, attracted many of the most well-known, influential people from Odisha’s political and cultural spheres. Prominent politicians in attendance included Pabitra Sounta, Mangu Khilla, Golaka Mohapatra, Arabinda Dhali, and Priyadarshi Mishra. The presence of Padma award-winning artists Sudarshan Sahoo and Adwaita Gadanayak highlights the importance placed on the symbiotic relationship between spirituality and the arts/culture at this event.
Raseshwari Devi Ji is a dedicated student of Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj through whom she began her spiritual path after graduating with degrees in Mathematics and English. At 22, on 15 October 1988 she took sannyas and devoted her life to spreading Shri Krishna Bhakti and Upanishadic philosophy. She has organized over 300 spiritual programs in 140 cities throughout 11 states during the past several decades; emphasis has been given to Odisha where Raseshwari has helped establish 21 centers for meditation/spiritual practice.
More recently, Raseshwari has used online avenues as a means for reaching coastal and semi-urban areas of Odisha to extend spiritual education opportunities. Additional initiatives such as Bal Sanskar Shivir and Yuva Utthan Shivir continually draw children/youth into moral, cultural and self-development programming. Raseshwari has also met with Droupadi Murmu, the Hon’ble President of India, to celebrate her Sanyas Diwas day in December.
The Seva Samman Award received at the Spiritual Conclave Odisha 2026 is a significant accomplishment within Raseshwari’s public/spiritual activities. Observers see this acknowledgement as evidence of Raseshwari’s contributions towards supporting the need for spiritual education and establishing community-focused initiatives within the changing social fabric of the country.
