Red Shield Division, Indian Army Organised Ex Servicemen Rally at Senapati

Senapati: In continuation of its efforts to reach out to the Veterans, the Indian Army organised yet another Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally at Senapati on Wednesday after organising it at Bishnupur on 26 February, 2024. The event received significant turnout of more than 500 Veterans, 09 Veer Naris, 48 widows and 21 dependents from Ukhrul, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Tamenglong and Kamjong districts in Manipur. The rally was aimed at facilitating the ESM community to register their grievances related to pension documentations and other anomalies.

Dedicated assistance booths to provide support and guidance on crucial matters including healthcare, pension anomalies and ECHS Polyclinic services were established in the rally which also included a comprehensive range of facilities to address the unique needs and concerns of ESM attending the event. Furthermore, medical specialists and dental specialists from the Army and District Civil Hospital organized a medical camp, providing medical assistance and provision of medicines to the rally attendees.

Indian Army is committed to ensure that issues of Veterans, Veer Naris and war widows, particularly in times crisis in the region are addressed in time bound manner despite the challenges posed by the present situation and this Ex-Servicemen Rally again underscores the commitment which embodies the spirit of camaraderie and solidarity in Indian Armed Forces.

One of the Senior most veteran Sub Maj & Capt (Retd) N Adahari Mao in his welcome note expressed his happiness for providing all necessary processes at one’s doorstep through organising such programs at various places. Earlier, the retired army personnel and their families travelled from place to place to avail various govt beneficiaries to army headquarters and other offices with much difficulties. However, thanks to GOC, 57 Mountain Division for providing all such facilities to district headquarters seeing the difficulties for people residing in far flung areas.

Addressing the gathering, Maj Gen SS Kartikeya, SM, GOC, 57 Mountain Division conveyed gratitude to the veterans and their families for their sacrifices and services to the nation. He also appreciated the yeomen service by the ESM community to the Indian Army during the prevalent security situation in Manipur. He also assured all participants of expeditious redressal of their issues.

While paying his respect to the veterans, GOC, 57 Mountain Division stated that all veterans are part of the Indian Army, expressing honour who have given their services for the cause and service to the nation. The army officer asserted to address the grievances of the ex-servicemen.

The GOC wished all veterans good health and long lives.

On behalf of the veterans, Sub Maj & Capt (Retired) P Piju expressed gratitude to the army for uniting all ex-servicemen in the region. The army retired officer also expressed gratitude for providing different vocational training and developmental projects that have been initiated in the region. On behalf of the veterans, the army retired officer urged the GOC to grant a permanent Zilla Sainik Board at Senapati which is on adhoc basis till now. It was mentioned that around 9,000 to 10,000 ex-servicemen are there from Senapati and Kangpokpi districts.
