SENAPATI: The Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) has strongly rejected allegations made in an FIR appeal submitted by Lenkhomang Chongloi, Chairman of Taphou Kuki Village, linking the Association to the detention of villagers from Taphou Kuki, while the Tahamzam Youth Forum has claimed responsibility for detaining certain villagers on May 13, 2026, stating that the action was taken in retaliation for the alleged kidnapping of 18 Naga civilians at Leilon Vaiphei Kuki Village by Kuki militants.
In a statement, SDSA described the allegations against the Association as false, baseless, and misleading, asserting that it had been unnecessarily dragged into the matter. The Association categorically denied claims that its volunteers were involved in “snatching away vehicles” or detaining individuals, maintaining that it neither participated in nor endorsed any unlawful activities mentioned in the complaint.
SDSA also expressed shock and grief over the killing of Thadou church leaders between Kotzim and Kotlen, an area reportedly under the influence of Kuki refugee militants. The Association conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the Thadou community, while condemning the incident as a barbaric act.
In another development, the Tahamzam Youth Forum expressed sorrow over a recent spate of killings, including the deaths of three Thadou church leaders and Wilson Thanga, a Chiru Naga, allegedly carried out by Kuki militants. The Forum strongly condemned the killings, describing them as cowardly acts by armed militants.
Demanding the immediate and unconditional release of the 18 alleged Naga hostages, the Forum stated that the detained Taphou Kuki villagers would remain in its custody until the captives are safely released. The organization said it does not seek violence or bloodshed, but claimed circumstances had compelled it to take such drastic measures to protect its people and land.
The Forum further appealed to law enforcement agencies, central security forces, and relevant authorities to urgently intervene and ensure the safe return of the abducted civilians. It added that upon their safe release, it would fully cooperate with authorities and unconditionally release those currently being detained.

SDSA, meanwhile, stated that irresponsible statements and false allegations only create confusion, mistrust, and tension among communities. The Association called on the Chairman of Taphou Kuki Village to clarify his statement and withdraw the allegations made against SDSA.
Reaffirming its commitment to justice, peace, public safety, and the protection of all communities in the district, SDSA stated that it is currently working alongside law enforcement agencies and civil society organizations to facilitate the safe release of hostages from both sides.
Both organizations appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid spreading rumors, and support ongoing efforts to restore peace, stability, and normalcy in the region.
