SENAPATI: Senapati District Women’s Association (SDWA) rescued a Kuki civilian from the custody of Naga youth volunteers and handed him over to Taphou Kuki village on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident reportedly happened when the Kuki civilian belonging to Taphou Kuki village went to Senapati bazaar in order to buy fish in the afternoon on Tuesday with one of his Naga friends. However, some Naga youth volunteers intercepted and arrested both of them somewhere in Senapati bazaar.
As soon as women leaders belonging to the Senapati District Women’s Association (SDWA) got the report, they intervened and rescued the Kuki guy from the volunteers and later dropped the Kuki guy till Taphou Kuki village in the afternoon. The guy was later identified as, Ngamsei Chongloi (54) of Taphou Kuki village.
At the handover ceremony held at the residence of the Taphou village chief, the village secretary expressed gratitude to the Senapati District Women’s Association (SDWA) for its humanitarian assistance and for taking the initiative to safely escort the civilian back to the village. The village secretary also appealed to the district women’s body to take into consideration the situation of village youths who use intoxicants and may wander into the bazaar area, adding that the village authorities have been urging local youths not to venture out amid the prevailing situation.

Representatives from the district women’s body (SDWA) reminded everyone not to loiter around during when state unrest still prevails in the region. The district women’s body stated to have saved from things getting worse.
Taphou Kuki village women chairperson in her vote of thanks expressed gratitude to the district women’s body (SDWA) for bringing a change in the society. The short gathering came to a close after the benediction prayer from the village women chairperson.
