Senapati: The Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) has issued a stern warning against holding any rally or dharna within its jurisdiction. This decision was announced following the Kuki Students Organization Sadar Hills’ plan to organize a rally on August 31, Saturday, from 11 am, starting from Keithelmanbi Military Colony (KMC) to Kangpokpi HQ.

In a press statement issued by the district student body, the SDSA expressed disappointment over the announcement of the rally by certain student organizations and their parent body, Kuki Inpi Manipur, despite the SDSA’s recent inter-sports meet held under the motto “Run for Peace in Manipur.” The association, which maintains neutrality in the ongoing crisis in Manipur, considers the planned rally unfortunate and warns that any organization attempting to operate within the SDSA’s jurisdiction will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The SDSA further cautioned that any untoward incident resulting from the proposed agitation would be at the organizers’ own risk and consequences. The student body also reassured the Naga general public to remain calm and cooperate with the SDSA, as it stands firm in its decision to uphold and safeguard the interests of all people, ensuring that goodwill prevails.

It is worth mentioning that the Kuki Students’ Organisation-Sadar Hills, along with its federating student bodies, including the Thadou Students Association, Sadar Hills (TSA-SH), Gangte Students Organisation, Sadar Hills (GSO-SH), and Zillai (Vaiphei Students Association, Kanggui Block), have unanimously resolved to support a nationwide rally. The public rally in Kangpokpi District on Saturday, August 31, 2024, is in response to the recent leaked audio tape implicating Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. The audio tape allegedly provides evidence of the Chief Minister’s involvement in ethnic cleansing against the native tribal Kukis across Manipur through the forceful occupation of Kuki-occupied areas.

The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has also warned against organizing any rally or dharna within its jurisdiction, which covers Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
