Shingta Villagers Intercept, Burn Three Truckloads of Liquor

KAMJONG/UKHRUL: A huge consignment of liquor was seized and destroyed by villagers in Shingta village under Kamjong district early Tuesday.

According to local sources, three DI truckloads of alcohol were intercepted by members of the Shingta Village Shanao Long and the Village Authority at around 12:30 am.

The sources said the liquor was being transported from Sekmai towards Senapati district via the Nongdam road.

Following the seizure, the villagers unloaded the consignment and destroyed it by setting it on fire.

The villagers also appealed to those involved to refrain from transporting liquor through the area and urged an end to such activities.
