Imphal: Police have arrested a woman ammonium chloride supplier for manufacturing brown sugar in Manipur’s Thoubal district.
The police identified the arrested woman as Antari (46) of Thoubal district.
The police alleged that she was the supplier of ammonium chloride to the clandestine brown sugar factories in the state.
She was arrested in a follow up action to a case registered with the police in connection with recent busting of a clandestine brown sugar factory in Thoubal district, the police said.

On June 14 last, the police busted the factory and recovered 222.85 kg of brown sugar, valued over Rs 200 crore in the international market and materials allegedly used in manufacturing the illegal drugs.
While busting the factory, the police had also arrested a woman, the owner of the house where the factory was operated.
The police investigating the case had arrested as many as nine persons allegedly involved in running the factory and eight of them are currently in judicial custody.
The police are on the hunt for other persons involved in running the factory, the police added.
