SHILLONG: Meghalaya’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested three alleged drug traffickers from Assam during a naka operation in Tikrikilla, West Garo Hills district, on June 15, seizing 53 grams of suspected heroin along with vehicles and mobile phones.
In a statement issued today, ANTF Superintendent of Police Vikash Kumar said the operation was carried out “based on credible intelligence input”.
During the search conducted under the NDPS Act, the team recovered “five plastic soap boxes containing suspected heroin (total weight 53 grams), two motorbikes and three mobile phones”.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sahidul Hussain (35) of Gumajhar, Simlabari, Goalpara; Saddam Hussain (35) of Rajmita Pantai under Lakhipur Police Station in Goalpara; and Rashidul Hoque (23) of Chataimari under Lakhipur Police Station in Goalpara.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Tikrikilla Police Station.

The SP said the three are “suspected to be part of a larger organised crime syndicate operating an inter-state drug trafficking nexus” and that the task force is “investigating the matter for forward and backward linkages”.
The department has appealed to the public for information.
“If any person has any information about the accused, their accomplices or any miscreants involved in drug trafficking, the information may be shared with Meghalaya ANTF. The identity will be kept secret, and a suitable reward will be given to such volunteers.”
