Two days after Tangkhul Civil Society Organisations from Ukhrul and Kamjong districts objection to chief minister N Biren Singh’s Facebook and Instagram entourage of September 9 that he had a productive meeting with CSOs extending their support for Go To Hills 2.0 from Ukhrul at his office, Tangkhul CSOS had rubbished N Biren’s remarks on social media and called it “media-stunt,” clarifying the so called CSOs meeting with chief minister had nothing to do with the CSOs from Ukhrul in particular and the Tangkhul community at large.
Tangkhul Katamnao Long (TKS), the apex Tangkhul student body on the same day, September 9 had sought clarification, not later than September 10, from Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLI) President and its executives for attending the meeting with chief minister in violation of TKS’ resolve to socially boycott the chief minister and the speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly; non-cooperation movement against the state government.

TKLI in a press release today acknowledged the meeting at chief minister’s office has confounded the Tangkhul CSOs and the community at large, terming the incident as injudicious and unfortunate.
The release signed by Thanshing W S, general secretary clarified saying, “The intend of the meeting was in regards to the Manipur Legislative Assembly’s order no. 5/11(2) /2021-LA (secy)/1.”
It further rendered the social media updates a contrast projection as the “meeting has no connection with the CSOs from Ukhrul, Go to Hills 2.0 initiative and any political propinquity,” TKLI maintained.
Responding to TKS’ letter of September 9 seeking clarification from TKLI, general secretary Thanshing in the release said, there has been amicable diplomatic discourse between TKS and TKLI. He further stated, “We shall continue to ennoble the community through our togetherness with the TKS and spare no effort for the rights and impartiality of our community and beyond.”
