KAMJONG: The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), the apex Tangkhul civil body, has expressed strong disapproval of the Katho Long (Union) for its ‘non-cooperation’ in the recently imposed 24-hour emergency shutdown.

The joint statement signed by the TNL and its four constituent bodies, the Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang (South), Tangkhul Naga Ato Longphang (North), Tangkhul Naga Zingtun Longphang (West), and Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang (East), expressed strong condemnation of the failure to comply with its directives by the Katho union.
The bodies stated that following the reported killing of four Tangkhul civilians at Pilong in Kamjong district on September 25, a 24-hour emergency shutdown was called. However, it alleged that the Katho Long failed to cooperate with the shutdown.

The TNL and its constituent bodies termed the alleged non-cooperation as divisive and expressed strong disapproval of the conduct. They stated that, to avoid a recurrence of such acts, the four constituent units would henceforth oversee such matters to ensure compliance. Further, they cautioned unions and individuals against undertaking such acts in the future.
