Tribal student bodies request govt to release ST student’s scholarship

Published on

The joint students’ bodies of All Tribal students’ union Manipur (ATSUM), All Naga students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM), and Kuki students’ Organisation General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) in a press statement today requested the state government to release pending scholarships for the ST students of Manipur at the earliest.

The statement pointed out that students belonging to SC and OBC have already received their scholarships from the government with ‘pomp and show’, while, the students belonging to ST categories are still looking forward to welcoming their scholarships.

The tribal student bodies mentioned the issue was raised by All College Tribal Students Union Imphal (ATSIUI) to Director of tribal affairs and hill government of Manipur. However, the statement alleged that the government is yet to respond to their demands.

“This lackadaisical attitude towards ST students has made the students feel discriminated against by the government. Therefore, the three Apex students bodies would like to appeal to the state government of Manipur to release the pending scholarships at the earliest”, it added.
