Tribal Youth Council Manipur Holds Legal Awareness Program in Imphal West

Ukhrul, July 13: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, successfully conducted a One-Day Legal Awareness Program at Chingkhulong Village Community Hall (Lamsang), Imphal West, on Sunday. The program was organised in collaboration with the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Imphal West, a press release issued by TYCM said.

As per the Tribal Council, Senior Advocate of the High Court of Manipur, R. Daniel Ramsan, spoke on Tribal Rights, including the entitlements and facilities available to tribals. He also engaged in an interactive session with participants, addressing their legal queries and concerns.

Advocate of the High Court of Manipur, Jangdimliu Gonmei, elaborated on The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. She too participated in an interactive session, clarifying legal issues raised by the public, TYCM said.

The awareness program was part of its ongoing initiative to empower tribal communities through legal education and improved access to justice.

The event was graced by Shapu Kamei, Khulak of Chingkhulong Village, as the Chief Guest; Merachao Panmei, Khunbu of Chingkhulong Village, as the Guest of Honour; and Momo Tantanga, President of TYCM, as the Functional President of the programme.

Namlungsiliu Wisonnamai served as the moderator for the event, which saw active participation from local residents and youth. Dinglin Kamei, President of the Chingkhulong Youth Club, delivered the vote of thanks.

While the program witnessed active participation from village leaders, youth club leaders, women society leaders, and community members, the initiative is part of TYCM’s continued commitment to raising legal awareness and supporting tribal communities in safeguarding their rights, the release added.
