Two women held with 22.77 kilo of opium seeds and contraband drugs

Imphal: Two women were apprehended after 22.770 kg of opium seeds and other contraband drugs were recovered from a pan-shop they run, a police source said on Monday.

The apprehended women have been identified as JB Shangam and Shangwar alias Thangsang. Both are fromChandel district.

A team of Kakching police arrested the two women after 38 g of opium, 377 g of WY tablets and 770 kg of opium seeds were intercepted during a raid of the pan-shop they run at Khudei Khunou part-II under Chandel district on Sunday, the police said.

The police conducted the raid in the shop based on specific information, the police added.

The arrested women were handed over to Chandel police station  along with the seized items for further investigation and legal action, the police further added.
