UKHRUL: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur, Council headquarters (TYCM-CHQ) on Wednesday appealed to NIELIT, Imphal and NIELIT Computer Training Centre, Kwakeithel Bazar, Manipur, to reschedule the First and Second Semester examinations of NIELIT students after January 5, 2026, especially for tribal Christian students of Manipur.

In a statement, TYCM-CHQ stated that the Students’ & Education Affairs have submitted an appeal to the Executive Director, NIELIT, Imphal, and the Centre In-Charge, NIELIT Computer Training Centre, Kwakeithel Bazar, Manipur, to reschedule the exam.

On December 15, the NIELIT Computer Training Centre, Kwakeithel Bazar notified that the First and Second Semester examinations of NIELIT students will be held on December 24, 26, and 27.

“The period from December 20 to 31 and January 1 to 5 is a highly significant and busy period for tribal Christian students, as they customarily return to their respective villages for preparations and observances related to Christmas and New Year celebrations,” TYCM-CHQ said in its statement.

Expressing concern and disappointment for the tribal students, TYCM-CHQ asserted that most of the tribals reside in far-flung and remote areas and such an exam schedule will affect their participation in important religious and cultural observances and undermine the spirit of the Christmas festival and New Year.

“If the tribal students appear for the examinations on 24th, 26th, and 27th December, 2025, it will be impossible for them to return to their respective villages during the said period after the completion of the examinations. The fixing of the examination schedule during the festive period has caused deep concern and disappointment for tribal students, particularly of the 1st & 2nd Semesters. Such a schedule adversely affects their participation in important religious and cultural observances and undermines the spirit of the Christmas festival and New Year,” TYCM-CHQ stated.

The TYCM Students’ & Education Affairs urged the concerned authorities of NIELIT, Imphal and the NIELIT Computer Training Centre, Kwakeithel Bazar, to reschedule the examination after January 5, 2026, in the larger interest and convenience of the tribal students.
