Ukhrul district has steered clear of 667 cases of Covid-19 infection so far and there is no more active case here for a period of about two weeks now, the district surveillance office has said.

An official source from DSO said that the district has achieved a recovery rate of 99.85 per cent and zero active case at present.

Out of the accumulative positive cases of 668,667 have recovered, while one patient died. The deceased patient was among the 39 patients who were referred out of the district, it said.

Mention may be made here that the district received a total of 9635 native returnees from other states and abroad so far since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, another source from the district health authority, last two new cases were detected in January after a gap without any detection since December. But these two patients have also recovered now.

“There has been no fresh detection and no active case in the district,” it said.

The district’s lone Covid Care Centre at TK Woodland in Paorei, Shirui village is currently an empty building without any patients occupying it. All positive patients have recovered and have been subsequently discharged from the centre, the source continued.

“By now, the care centre could have been closed down but it is still kept functional to attend to needs just in case any fresh cases arise,” it said.

However, the testing centre at ADC’s incomplete administrative building at Hamleikhong, opposite the mini secretariat is still rendering its services.

“This centre is currently providing test services to students and other needy individuals at the cost of Rs. 250 per test,” it said, adding that, nevertheless, the service is still provided free of charge for returnees from outside the state.
