UKHRUL: Ukhrul Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ram Muivah has sought Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh’s intervention on the prevailing situation in the district, particularly regarding the transportation of essential commodities.

In a letter made available to the media, the MLA reported an ambush today involving innocent civilians, allegedly by Kuki terrorists, even though security escorts were present. This ambush resulted in the death of one Food Corporation of India (FCI) truck driver and left two others injured. He also reminded the Chief Minister about the two Tangkhul civilians who were killed by Kuki terrorists at the same spot near TM Kasom on April 18, while demanding an immediate and significant response to protect innocent lives and prevent further escalation of violence.

Muivah highlighted that for almost a month, essential supplies such as FCI rice, petroleum, and LPG cylinders have been unable to reach Ukhrul from Imphal due to ongoing attacks, blockades, and ambushes by Kuki militants. He suggested using National Highway 102A from Dimapur to Ukhrul via Tadubi for transporting essential goods, as this route is relatively safe from Kuki attacks, with no Kuki villages along its entire stretch.

Additionally, the Ukhrul MLA has put forth several key demands:

1. Transport essential goods and commodities from Dimapur to Ukhrul via Tadubi on NH 102A without delay.

2. Strengthen the security escort from Mahadey to New Haven by increasing the number of security personnel and providing at least three bulletproof vehicles (Caspers), deployed as one at the front, one in the middle, and one at the rear.

3. Direct the army and paramilitary forces to destroy bunkers located on the hills along the western bank of the Thoubal River and set up temporary outposts in vulnerable areas.

4. Instruct the army and paramilitary forces to conduct cordon-and-search operations immediately to apprehend the assailants.

5. Deploy a platoon of state forces, either from Manipur Rifles or the Indian Reserve Battalion, to TM Kasom.

Youth Must Lead With Truth, Not Silence

We are young, but not too young to speak the truth. We are young, but not too young to stop watching our motherland decay. We are young, but not too young to refuse to be silent spectators. It is time we raised our voices — not to divide, but to unite. We need voices that advocate peace, voices that heal.
