UKHRUL: The Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland on Friday organised a massive solidarity protest under the theme “Bring Them Home” at Jalukie in Peren district, Nagaland, in support of six Naga civilians allegedly abducted by Kuki militants on May 13 from Leilon village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district.
Nearly 10,000 people from different walks of life from different communities and organisations turned up for the rally to express solidarity with the affected families. The protestors demanded the immediate safe release of the six Naga hostages, whose whereabouts remain unknown till date.
Later a memorandum was submitted to the Governor of Nagaland by Zeliangrong Baudi and along with the CSO, Nagaland-NZPO, ZB (AMN) ZCN, LCN, RCN, ZMON, ZWO, ZSUN, ZSU, & ZYO, Peren District, Nagaland seeking the governor’s immediate intervention.
“The current unrest situation in Manipur is bound to affect the whole region due to which the Zeliangrong Civil Society Organizations of Nagaland (ZBN) appeal for the safe release of six Naga men abducted by the National Kuki Front KNF-P operating under the Kuki Militants in connivance with the Leilon village community. To de-escalate the grave situation and restore peace and tranquility within the region,” the memorandum stated.

It stated that the prevailing situation in Manipur is a total violation of human rights.
It highlighted that every right thinking citizen has been protesting against the abduction of the 18 innocent Naga civilians by the Kuki militants on May 13.
Of the 18 abducted civilians, 12 were released on May 15. However, the whereabouts of the remaining six civilians, including two pastors, remain unknown till date. The six missing civilians are native settlers of Konsakhul (Konsaram) village, under Kangpokpi district, Manipur, namely- Rev. Manu, Kenpibo, Pastor, Phenrongwibou, Phenrilungbou, Dilip, and Kaliwangbou.
“The lives of the six innocent Naga hostages, including two Pastors, are still under the captivity of the unlawful Kuki terrorists. And as such every right thinking citizen has been protesting against the abduction of the 18 innocent Naga civilians, including men, women and married couples. The fact that they were taken hostage on May 13 at around 10:30 AM. Subsequently after much physical and mental torture on the hostage of the 18 innocent Naga civilians, on the May 15, the 11 women and a baby child were separated on May 13 2026 from the other six Naga men and were released. Whereas the other six Naga men were possibly killed or handed over to the Kuki militants as their whereabouts are not disclosed till date,” it stated.

It mentioned that the whole Naga society is concerned as 17 days have passed since the abduction yet no action has been taken as expected so far despite various Civil Society Organizations of Manipur conducting a number of protest rallies and submitted memorandums to the Manipur Government for immediate intervention and for the safe release of those abducted innocent citizens and for restoration of peace.
Expressing concern over the intolerable and unrest situations faced by the Nagas in Manipur, it stated that the Zeliangrong Baudi, Nagaland and the CSOs of Peren District, Nagaland can no longer remain silent and
demanded the Governor’s immediate intervention to ensure immediate and safe release of six innocent Naga men.
It demanded that the village chief of Leilon Vaiphei, Lalboi Vaiphei, and the abettors/women in connivance with the National Kuki Front (KNF-P) of Kuki militants, involved in abduction of the 18 innocent civilians, including the six Naga men should be immediately arrested and interrogated thoroughly. They should be rewarded with befitting punishment as per the Law of the Land, it added.
It further demanded the immediate withdrawal of the Suspension of Operation and deliver justice and protect the rights of the six hostage Naga men, innocent citizens, the affected victims children, wives and aged parents of the victims, whose basic human rights are denied and abused mercilessly.
