Ukhrul, October 24: A press conference was held today at the DC Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat, under the banner of MY Bharat to officially announce and highlight the upcoming Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel 150 Years Unity March. The march commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.
The event aimed to spread awareness about the core values of unity, integrity, and nation-building championed by Sardar Patel. It also sought to encourage active youth participation in the Unity March, which will be organized across the Sadar region.
Worchipem AC and District Youth Officer, speaking at the conference, emphasized that the march will symbolize national integration by bringing together youth, students, and citizens from all walks of life to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.
Programme Officer NSS, Masopam Kasar, shared detailed information about the event’s route, schedule, and the number of expected participants. The organizers also appealed to educational institutions, youth clubs, and community organizations to collaborate in making the march a grand success.

Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Asish Das IAS, extended his best wishes to the youth and all participants, expressing hope that the event will be beautiful and fruitful.

The district-level padyatra is scheduled to launch on 31st October. The three-day long padyatra will begin at 3 PM on 31st October with a walk from Jubilee Hall, Khampasom to Ava Market, Phungreitang. On 3rd November, participants will walk from Gandhi Memorial Statue, Phungreitang to Mini Secretariat, Hamleikhong, starting at 2 PM. The event welcomes all interested youth, with an expected participation of 500 youth.
Several activities will be organized in educational institutions and public places over seven days. Suggested activities in institutions include essay competitions on themes such as Iron Resolve, Iron Nation, Ek Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Sardar Patel: Architect of United India, and Nation First: From Patel to Modi. Debate competitions, talks, and lectures will focus on topics like Unity in Diversity, Swadeshi as a mindset, Youth Leadership as a tool for national integration, and Patel’s visionary role in shaping modern India.
Creative competitions including poster, banner, and prop making will support both district and national padyatras. Additional activities include cleanliness drives, yoga and wellness sessions, nukkad nataks, and cultural programs promoting national integration.
Public place activities will include cleanliness drives at Amrit Sarovar and community areas, hero statue restorations, yoga sessions in parks, mural paintings, Swadeshi melas, and Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge drives.
The Saradar@150 Unity March is a nationwide initiative honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s monumental contribution to uniting the princely states of India and shaping a strong, independent nation. It aligns with the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat mission and supports the vision of a developed and self-reliant India under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

Alongside the padyatra, developmental activities will take place across districts, including cleanliness drives at water bodies, tree plantation under the “Sardar Upvan” initiative, women’s welfare camps, yoga and health camps, and “Vocal for Local” campaigns. These programs aim to mobilize citizens, celebrate local innovation, and channel youth energy toward nation-building.
The Unity March 2025 follows a multi-stage structure, linking district mobilizations and a national padyatra in honor of Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy.
