SHILLONG: The Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman will be in Meghalaya on June 19 and June 20 to attend a seminar on “Leveraging Externally Aided Projects in the North-Eastern States” in Shillong, and to inaugurate and review key state projects.
The visit will begin on June 19 with the inauguration and inspection of North East’s largest Organic Spice Processing Plant at Bhoirymbong in Ri Bhoi District, managed by Eastern Ri Bhoi Organic Farmer Producer Company.
Later that evening at 4.30 pm, the Minister will address a programme at U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong to celebrate the progress of Externally Aided Projects in Meghalaya and lay the foundation stone for a new EAP-funded project worth Rs 1,200 crore.

On June 20, the Minister will travel to West Jaintia Hills for an interactive session with students of Kiang Nangbah Government College in Jowai at 10.15 am, followed by the inauguration of the Khliehtyrshi Primary Health Centre at 11.30 am.
The seminar and associated visits are expected to highlight Meghalaya’s use of external funding for infrastructure, agriculture, and health, and explore ways to strengthen the implementation of EAPs across the North Eastern region.
