United National Liberation Front cadre nabbed in Imphal

Imphal: An active cadre of rebel outfit, United National Liberation Front (UNLF), was arrested by a team of Imphal West district police commandos on Tuesday, police said.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Saikhom Shanta Meetei (39) of Thoubal district.

The police commando team arrested the cadre near LIC office in Imphal’s Khoyathong today.

The police alleged that he has been working for the UNLF for around four months under the command of one self-styled captain Chingacha @ Angamba presently based in Myanmar.

He is deeply involved in extortion of money from different schools and he handed over the extortion money to one UNLF cadre for their party activities.

The arrested person and the seized articles were handed over to city police station for further investigation, the police added.
