Ukhrul: As the final whistle blows at the VYBK Stadium in Kolkata, the celebration begins for the Blue Islanders. Mumbai City FC lifts the ISL Cup for the second time, returning the ISL trophy to the City of Dreams, its home since the 2021 ISL season. Mumbai City FC fought hard, scoring two late goals, coming from behind, and sealing victory with a 3-1 win against Mohun Bagan Super Giant at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkatah on May 4th, 2024.

The Mariners held the lead in the first half, with Jason Cumming netting the opening goal of the game in the 44th minute, sending the excited home crowd into a frenzy. In the stadium, a sea of passionate fans clad in the team’s colors filled every seat, their energy palpable in the air. Flags of Mariners and Islanders waved vigorously, creating a vibrant tapestry of support with banners of the squad throughout the arena, building up an electrifying atmosphere at their home ground.

Trailing by a goal, Mumbai City FC threw everything they had in search of an equalizer in the second half. The Islanders made an equalizing goal in the 53rd minute of the game involving a long ball from Alberto Noguera to their Argentine striker Jorge Pereyra Diaz. The momentum shifted back and forth as both teams pushed for a decisive breakthrough. Mumbai City FC regained the lead through a well-worked team goal finished off by Bipin Singh in the 81st minute of the game, adding a golden goal for the Islanders, breaking the deadlock. Bipin Singh came in strong from the bench and netted, just like he did during the last 2020-21 season at the last moment, giving a victorious win. It’s him again, the savior, the last standing man of the Islanders. In the dying minutes of the match at 90+7, Mumbai City FC made a brilliant finishing goal from Jakab Vojtus with a clinical finish, sending their supporters into raptures of joy and giving them the second Cup championship title.

What a victorious night for the Islanders, played with prowess and amazing skills at the home ground of Mariners. The final whistle marked the culmination of an unforgettable contest, with Mumbai City FC emerging as the deserving champions of the Indian Super League 10th Session.

While Mohan Bagan SG is the Champions of the ISL League 2023-24, concide with reverse titles from last Session 9th ISL 2022-23. As the players celebrated amidst a sea of confetti, one thing was certain – the game will go on.
