Interestingly, BJP Northeast in-charge Sambit Patra has been in Imphal since Sunday, while holding a series of meetings with the BJP MLAs. What transpired in all these meetings is not known. However, it is likely that the BJP leader is trying to work out for a smooth transition of leadership in the state.
The sources also said that things may become clear in a couple of days’ time whether the suspended animation will be in place or about the next chief minister of Manipur.
It may be recalled here that Biren Singh had resigned on Sunday evening amid mounting pressure from various quarters who had been threatening to move a no-trust motion and a floor test.
Biren’s resignation came one day ahead of the Manipur Legislative Assembly session, and nearly two years after the Meitei-Kuki violence broke out in Manipur.
