Wung Tangkhul Region Destroys Seized Heroin and Liquor

Ukhrul, April 24: The Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) on Thursday destroyed seized narcotics and alcoholic beverages, including heroin, IMFL rum, beer, vodka, and locally brewed andro liquor, at their office compound in Ukhrul.

The destroyed items included heroin packed in nine khani containers, 1,800 litres of locally made andro liquor, 50 cases of Old Monk rum, 2 cases of vodka, and 8 cases of beer. The destruction was carried out in the presence of a media representative.

A WTR officer stated, “The jurisdiction within Wung Tangkhul will remain a dry area. The drive against the illegal narcotics trade will continue, and anyone found engaging in such activities will be dealt with strictly.”

The WTR also reaffirmed its commitment to combating such nuisances and announced that strict monitoring will be enforced during the upcoming Shirui Lily Festival 2025.
