Naga Army Denies Involvement in Kamjong Arson, Condemns Social Media Speculation

Ukhrul, April 24: Following the alleged arson and violence as claimed by Gampal and Haijang villages on Wednesday, where 14 houses in Gampal village and 8 houses in Haijang hamlet were burnt to the ground, the General Headquarters of the Naga Army has denied any involvement.

While lamenting the “act of arson committed upon the denizens of Gampal and Haijang villages under Kamjong District by some unknown miscreants,” the Naga Army stated that it is a “matter of grave concern that the spate of violence in Manipur has been gradually expanding towards the eastern side of the state, bordering Myanmar.”

In this connection, the Naga Army outrightly condemned what it termed “wild speculations circulating on social media, suspecting the hands of the NSCN.”

Maintaining its distance from the incident, the Naga Army clarified that it has no involvement in the unfortunate event.

“All concerned are advised not to be carried away by such malicious disinformation. The conspiracy surrounding the incident shall be exposed sooner or later,” the press release stated.

The Naga Army further said, “We believe in the high ideals of truth, justice, and peace, and we shall continue to work for the welfare and security of all communities living in Nagalim without any prejudices.”
