ZRO welcomes Th. Muivah’s homecoming to Somdal after five decades

Ukhrul, October 13: The Zomi Re-Unification Organisation (ZRO) has welcomed the news that NSCN General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah will visit his native Somdal village in Ukhrul district on October 22, more than 50 years after leaving his home.

ZRO in a statement issued on Monday said Th. Muivah’s return to his birthplace after decades in exile is “a moment of joy,” describing him as a leader who has endured great hardship and sacrifice for the cause of his people.

ZRO hailed Muivah as a visionary leader whose decision to enter into a ceasefire with the Government of India reflected his commitment to a peaceful and negotiated political settlement.

“ZRO wishes that a lasting and honourable political solution will be achieved sooner than later,” the statement read.

It further expressed hope that Th. Muivah’s visit would strengthen brotherhood and peace among communities in the Northeast and wished him good health and a happy homecoming.
