27th RN Hopingson IPS Memorial Award 2023 presented

Ukhrul: The 27th RN Hopingson IPS Memorial Award 2023 was held today at Awontang Community Hall, Hunphun. Prizes were handed over by Elisha Jagoi, the elder sister of Late RN Hopingson.

Awards were presented to the topper in each of two categories of successful candidates of HSLCE 2023 under the two categories BOSEM and CBSE/ICSE.

The CBSE/ICSE category topper was bagged by Mansak Hunphun Awungshi, daughter of Wungchuiwon Hunphun Awungshi and Sothing Hunphun Awungshi of Hunphun village from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ukhrul. She scored a total mark of 581 out of 600. Mansak Hunphun Awungshi also happens to be the topper in Tinsukia region of CBSE this year.

In the BOSEM topper category, the award was bagged by Rinmachuk Raikhan son of Wungnaongam Raikhan and Lungmila Raikhan from Nungshong Khunou village, studying in Savio School, Ukhrul. Rinmachuk Raikhan scored 522 out of 600 marks.

It may be recalled that Late RN Hopingson was a 1992 batch (45 RR) IPS officer who was killed in an ambush by militants in 1995 in Senapati district.

Late RN Hopingson was the only son of late RN Shangreihui and RN Ningchungla from Phalee Village of Ukhrul District and belonged to the Tangkhul Naga community. He was one of the first IPS officers from his community. He completed his phase-II training in November 1994 from SVP NPA, and died a martyr on 2nd June 1995.
