8 Dead, Several Injured in Red Fort Car Blast; ‘All Angles being Probed’: Amit Shah

NEW DELHI, NOV 10: A powerful car blast occurred near Lal Quila Metro Station in New Delhi this evening. Talking to Akashvani News, Delhi Fire Service said that they received a call about the incident at around 6:55 PM. It said that seven fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to control the blaze. They added that one or two nearby cars also caught fire as a result of the explosion. 

Talking to media, Deputy Chief Fire Officer AK Malik said that they got the information about the blast in a car near Chandni Chowk Metro Station and seven units were sent to the spot. He added that at 7:29 PM, the fire was brought under control and the teams are present at the spot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have expressed condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi. In a social media post, Mr. Modi hoped for the speedy recovery of those injured.  He informed that he reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and other officials. The Prime Minister added that those affected are being assisted by authorities. 

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called the incident extremely painful and disturbing. In a social media post, prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said all angles are being investigated following the blast near Red Fort in Delhi.

Teams from Delhi Police Special Cell, Crime Branch, NIA, SPG, and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) are on the ground conducting a thorough investigation. “We have launched a full probe, keeping all possibilities open. I hope our agencies will reach a conclusion on the cause of the blast shortly,” he said.

Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash hospital in New Delhi following the car blast near Red Fort metro station. Talking to media, Mr Shah informed that according to the hospital sources, eight people have died in the incident, and some people are injured who are getting treated in the hospital. The Home Minister said that an investigation is being conducted over the incident. Mr Shah said that he received a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately after the blast. He informed that a meeting will be held with the senior officials at the Home Ministry tomorrow.

CCTV cameras. Mr Shah said that he also spoke to the Delhi Commissioner of Police and the Special Branch in-charge, who are present at the spot.
