Agartala, Jul 25: Blending history with modernity, the Kasbeswari Temple at Kamalasagar and Chaturdash Devata Temple at Khayerpur are set for a spiritual and infrastructural transformation. With support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), these iconic temples will soon welcome pilgrims and tourists alike with enhanced facilities and timeless charm.

Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, on Friday, laid the foundation stones for the temple development projects, which have received a combined financial assistance of Rs 32.41 crore from ADB. The initiative aims to position the two sites as major religious tourism hubs in Tripura, while preserving their deep-rooted cultural and spiritual significance.

While announcing these initiatives, Dr. Saha wrote on his official X handle, “The Maa Kasbeshwari temple in Kamalasagar, established by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, and the Chaturdasha Devata Bari in Khayerpur, founded by Maharaja Krishna Kishore Manikya, are two such prominent sites.”

“Kasbeswari Temple, one of the important religious tourism sites in Tripura, is all set for a major transformation under ADB-funded project worth Rs. 18.78 crore,” Dr. Saha added.

Meanwhile, for Chaturdash Devata Temple, Dr. Saha mentioned, “Established by Maharaja Krishna Kishore Manikya Bahadur, Chaturdash Devata Temple in Old Agartala is a beautiful blend of traditional culture and heritage.”

“To revamp this revered site, which is a hub of spiritual emotions for millions of devotees, and to showcase its royal legacy through artistic craftsmanship and modern planning, a massive development project will be implemented with financial assistance of Rs. 13.63 crore from the Asian Development Bank,” he added.

Tripura, he noted, is home to several religious sites that bear testimony to its royal lineage and sacred traditions. With these ADB-backed projects, the state aims to strike a fine balance between heritage conservation and tourism growth, turning Kasba and Khayerpur into vibrant spiritual and cultural destinations.
