Assam Rifles Destroys Ganja Plantation Worth ₹2.9 Crores in Tripura

Ukhrul, Jan 12: In a major crackdown against illicit drug cultivation, the Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Police and TFS, carried out a highly coordinated operation during the wee hours of 11 January 2025, destroying a broad swath of Ganja plantation in Dhanirampur area, under Sonamura PS, Boxanagar Forest Range, Tripura.

According to the Assam Rifles’ statement, the cultivation area spans an expansive 100 acres (40.5 hectares) with approximately 75,000 cannabis plants worth about ₹2.9 crore in the market. “The scale and success of this mission underline Assam Rifles’ relentless efforts in combating the region’s drug menace,” it said.

The AR credited the local administration for playing a pivotal role in supporting the operation, ensuring its success, and reinforcing the importance of a unified approach in tackling such challenges.

“The mission’s impact is a significant step toward promoting a drug-free environment and safeguarding the region’s future,” the AR said.

The document further stated that Assam Rifles remains steadfast in its dedication to fighting drug-related crimes, sending a strong message against illegal cultivation and the broader nexus of organized crime.
