Ukhrul: A mega medical camp was organised by the Assam Rifles at the premise of 40 AR Camp at Shangshak on Wednesday under Operation Sadbhavna Project 2024-25.

Speaking with the media person, Brigadier Sandeep Singh, SM, Deputy Inspector General, Headquarters 10 Sector, Somsai stated that “a lot of non-complex cases can be resolved right here. Good medical advice, a good pharmacy is available right here under Operation Sadbhavna. The government has allotted about Rs. 10 lakhs. A large number of medicines of very good quality have come in. Very advanced medicines. They are also being distributed depending on the requirement. What is more important is the follow-up. We are not just conducting an event and forgetting it. We have a proper procedure of follow-up of the cases that requires sustained effort. So for that, I am really thankful to the state health department also. They have been able to spare a lot of specialists. We have got an ENT specialist, a medical specialist and an eye specialist. So, all these specialists once they screen a patient and find that there is a requirement for follow-up, free of cost, the patient would be transferred from here to the district hospital or any other specialised hospital and they will be given free of cost care. So, such kind of situations with so many doctors, including specialists in one platform, it is something that has never happened in this area. Our aim is that we do a proper screening, the cases be resolved here or where advanced care is required, we give them as much support as we can. I am very happy that we could even target Chamu, the remotest area of this state. It is a series of medical camps. Overall, we are doing six camps. After two days, it will be Kasom, Namli, Wangli. Again, it is a very difficult area where people don’t have resources to come to a major hospital. Our aim is to reach out as far and as wide as possible and provide the people with good medical care. That is what we are aiming for, and I am very happy that the support and response of the villages and the local communities have been very overwhelming.”

We can witness lots of people coming from my village and the neighbouring villages for medical check-ups, free of cost. We welcome such initiative and will extend our cooperation even in the days to come. People from 13 villages are coming and getting the facilities. Thank you, Assam Rifles, for the initiatives.”
