Ato Kilonser condoles the demise of Capt. (Retd.) W. Shimray; says he was “a great and sincere leader”

Condolence messages continue to pour in for the demise of (L) Capt. (Retd.) Wunganing. Shimray, who passed away on 17 November 2020 after a prolonged kidney illness.

In a message of condolence issued on 18 November 2020, the General Secretary of National Socialist Council of Nagalim, Thuingaleng Muivah profoundly bemoaned the demise of late Wunganing Shimray, who was once an Executive Member, Steering Committee, NSCN.

Ascribing late W. Shimray as “a great and sincere leader” of the Nation, Mr Muivah regretted that the vacuum created by W. Shimray’s death would be “hard to fill”.

Mr Muivah hailed late W. Shimray as “one of the committed national workers who had served the Nation in the most trying and testing time of the national struggle giving his best efforts as a true worker and leader.” The message further commended that late Wunganing Shimray, popularly known as W. Shimray, “had put Nation first, and fought the good fight in his capacity”.

“The sacrificial contributions rendered by late W. Shimray for the cause of Nation in different capacities shall ever be cherished by the Nation,” it added.

Expressing his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, Mr Muivah offered humble prayers to the Almighty God for His divine providence to console, comfort and sustain them mentally and physically in their hour of pain and sorrow, and to grant eternal bliss to the departed soul of the leader.

W. Shimray gave “his best for the Naga people”: Maj. (Retd.) Chishi

In another condolence message, Maj. (Retd.) Hutovi Chishi Convener, Steering Committee, NSCN, also expressed his grief at the loss of “a man of courage and determination with high dreams for the Naga nation”.

Giving fond tribute to the departed compatriot, Mr Chishi commended that life of late W. Shimray was “a reflection of commitment and dedication”. He then said the departed soldier had given “his best for the Naga people” and served to the best of his ability leading from the front. “The vacuum created will be difficult to fill,” he further lamented.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the bereaved family members and close friends. We express our deepest condolences to them and may the spirit of (L) Wunganing Shimray rest in peace,” the statement added.
