In a bid to create awareness among the public about Covid-19 safety, a bike rally was organised by the 10 Sector Assam Riffles in association with the district’s bikers’ groups ‘Hau Riders’ and ‘Soul Brothers’ in Ukhrul town here on Thursday.

Held under the motto ‘Spread Compassion, not Covid-19’, the rally was flagged off by Col Dipankar Basu, SM Addl. DIG Assam Rifles in the presence of CO Rippon Bora, Major Pratik, CMO Dr Kapangring, SM Dr. Raikhan, Addl. SP Ringthing Hongchui at AR garrison Somsai.

Before the start of the rally, the participants took a pledge to follow the safety protocols which included wearing face mask, maintaining physical distancing, good respiratory hygiene and frequent hand washing.

“We are holding this bike rally to aware the public about wearing masks, hand washing and following social distancing norms. Let’s spread compassion and not Covid-19,” CO Bora said.

“This is a time for self defence which alone can protect us from the contagious disease,” he continued, and extended gratitude to all the participants for making this initiative a success.

Around 23 bikers riding the macho Royal Enfield and other motorbikes, started from the AR garrison, crossed the main town areas and culminated at the District Hospital campus at Naga Gate in Hungpung village.

Dr. Raikhan urged all to join hands and fight together to win the war against Covid-19. “So, let’s all maintain these three things, that is, wearing mask, hand washing and social distance of six feet,” this is the message we want to give through this rally today,” he pleaded.
