Churachandpur, August 12: Police in Churachandpur district said on Monday that the body of a man missing for more than two weeks was discovered in a forested area between Suahzahau and Zabellei villages, roughly 17 kilometers from the Singngat police station.
The victim, identified as Dugdha Hazarika (37), of Sonitpur, Assam, had been living at the Maukot BIPL Camp in Suangdoh. He was reportedly last seen on July 28, 2025. A coordinated search effort, led by Singngat police and supported by several local philanthropic civil society organizations, had been underway since his disappearance.

Police said they resumed the search early Monday morning after receiving fresh information the previous day. Hazarika’s body was found in a stream, already lifeless.
Civil society volunteers and police personnel retrieved the remains, carrying them across the Tuivai River before transporting them to the Churachandpur District Hospital morgue. Authorities said further procedures are pending as they investigate the cause of death.
