BSF Clarifies on 144 Candidates’ Disqualification in SI Delhi Police and CAPF Recruitment Process

Ukhrul, Mar 7: On the recent disqualification of 144 candidates in Delhi Police and CAPF recruitment process due to height criteria, Ajay Vir Singh, the recruitment in-charge of BSF, has clarified that candidates with a height of 162.5 cm or more should not be disqualified and any candidates who were wrongly disqualified will be selected for the respective posts. This was conveyed to the Delhi-based Tangkhul and Poumai student union leaders in their meeting at the BSF Headquarters in New Delhi today.

The Tangkhul Students Union Delhi (TSUD) and Poumai Students Union Delhi (PSUD) had submitted separate complaints to the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Headquarters in New Delhi regarding the disqualification of 144 candidates during the ongoing recruitment process.

“With the recommendation of SSC Section Officer, the presidents of both TKLD and PNTMD visited the BSF Headquarter and engaged with the BSF and CAPF recruitment in charge. Ajay Vir Singh, the recruitment in-charge of BSF, clarified and assured that candidates with a height of 162.5 cm or more should not be disqualified. Any candidates who were wrongly disqualified will be selected for the respective posts,” the student bodies said.

The BSF officer further informed that the 157 cm height requirement applies only to the constable position for Northeast candidates, not for the Sub Inspector (SI) or Assistant Commandant exams. The 157 cm criteria for the NE candidates was not yet approved by the MHA as per the source of BSF, the student unions said.

In response to the latest development, the Tangkhul Katamnao Long Delhi (TKLD) and Poumai Students Union Delhi (PNTMD) will jointly resubmit a formal letter to the BSF with a list of candidates who meet the 162.5 cm height requirement, urging their inclusion in the selection process, the student bodies further informed.
