CHANDEL: The Chandel-Tengnoupal District Baptist Associations’ Fellowship (CTDBAF) issued an “earnest and unequivocal appeal” for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages held by both parties in the ongoing conflict.

The CTDBAF, comprising eight Baptist associations — Aimol Baptist Association (ABA), Anal Naga Baptist Association (ANBA), Chothe Baptist Churches Association (ChBCA), Lamkang Naga Baptist Association (LNBA), Maring Naga Baptist Association (MNBA), Monsang Naga Baptist Churches Association (MNBCA), Moyon Naga Baptist Association (MYNBA), and Tarao Baptist Association (TrBA) — urged both sides to “show Christ’s love and compassion” and release the hostages in good faith.

In its appeal, CTDBAF stated the continued detention of hostages has caused “extreme pain and suffering not only to the individuals held captive but also to their villagers, church members, and families, who have been enduring daily agony, uncertainty, and trauma.” Families of the hostages, it added, have been waiting “in anguish, fear and sleepless nights.”

Calling for peace, the CTDBAF said conflict must be replaced with dialogue and understanding. “We believe that true safety is built through reconciliation and respect for human life. Let us bridge divides, renounce hatred and move together toward a just and harmonious life,” it stated.

CTDBAF urged both parties to act with “courage and humanity by immediately releasing all the hostages in the name of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
