AGARTALA: Enforcement agencies in Champhai district seized 1.194 kg of Heroin and 5.500 kg of Methamphetamine between August 27 and September 30, 2026, a District Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee meeting was informed on Wednesday.
The meeting was held at the DC Conference Hall, Keifangtlang, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Lalbiakfela.
According to details placed before the committee, the Excise & Narcotics Department registered seven cases under the NDPS Act, 1985, arresting nine persons. Of these, three foreign nationals, two men and one woman, were apprehended on charges related to illegal entry into India and suspected drug trafficking.

The meeting was also informed that the Chief Medical Officer, Champhai, conducted an HIV awareness programme and blood tests on September 17, 2026. All test results returned negative.
Champhai District Police registered 13 cases under the NDPS Act between September 1 and 28, 2026, arresting 17 persons, including 11 Indian nationals and six foreign nationals, along with one absconder. Seizures during this period included 537 grams of Heroin, 3.154 kg of Methamphetamine and 3.700 kg of Opium Fluid, together valued at over Rs 3.79 lakh.
Additionally, the 14 Assam Rifles conducted seven anti-narcotics operations in September 2026, seizing 77 vials of Heroin and 5.5 kg of Methamphetamine, valued at Rs 659.82 lakh. Eight persons and one absconder were apprehended. All seized items were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai.
