IMPHAL, NOV 25: The Meitei Alliance on Sunday organised the Civic Responsibility Speech Competition at the GP Women’s College Hall as part of its ongoing initiative, My Manipur, My Responsibility.

The event was attended by Prof. W. Chandbabu, Vice-Chancellor of DM University, as Chief Guest, and Prof. L. Rajen Singh, Principal of GP Women’s College, as Guest of Honour. A panel of distinguished judges — Chongtham Nandita, Col. (Retd.) Sapam Shantikumar, Mangka Mayanglambam, Raees Ahamed Tampak, and R.K. Nimai, IAS (Retd.) — evaluated the participants.

After a series of compelling presentations from shortlisted speakers, the winners were announced:
1st Prize: Ms. Wairokpam Bobita Devi (Nongmeibung)
2nd Prize: Ms. Leisna Diana Aribam (Thangmeiband Lourung Purel)
3rd Prize: Md. Irshad Ali (Keirao Makting Maning Leikai)

The Alliance thanked all participants for their insightful speeches, noting that their ideas would help inspire civic awareness and positive social change. A special acknowledgment was extended to Ms. Hirom Ongbi Bijentimala for sponsoring the third prize in memory of her late parents, Akoijam Kalabi and Akoijam Ongbi Thoinu.

With the competition concluded, the Civic Responsibility Campaign now moves to its next phase. Volunteers of the Meitei Alliance will visit schools, colleges and universities across Manipur to engage students and encourage them to write personal civic-responsibility pledges. These pledges will be displayed on “Pledge Walls” supplied by the Alliance to promote integrity, unity and responsible citizenship.

The Alliance also sought support from educational institutions and volunteers for the upcoming outreach efforts. Details and the theme of the next campaign under My Manipur, My Responsibility will be announced soon, with suggestions welcomed from the community.
