Chandel, May 7: During his maiden visit to Chandel district, the Governor of Manipur was formally welcomed by the Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO), which represents the 11 Naga tribes of the district. On this occasion, CNPO submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting pressing developmental needs and called for immediate government intervention in critical sectors including healthcare, infrastructure, and eco-tourism.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Wednesday reviewed law and order and administrative developments. He inaugurated the District Library and IT Centre, chaired a review meeting on welfare schemes and interacted with civil society organisation representatives, as per Raj Bhavan Manipur, the official account of the Governor House of Manipur.
The CNPO, led by President D. Thamdok Francis and General Secretary Sh. Kalenchung, stressed the urgent need for the implementation and upgradation of key public services and facilities. The organisation stressed that these initiatives are of paramount importance for the well-being and progress of the district’s population.

In their appeal, CNPO leaders expressed optimism that the Governor’s visit would mark the beginning of a renewed commitment to the district’s holistic development. “We look forward to your Excellency’s favorable consideration and working together towards a brighter future for Chandel where our people can thrive, our culture can flourish, and our district can prosper,” the memorandum concluded.
