A 65-year-old man succumbed to COVID-19 in Tamenglong as the first person claimed by the pandemic in the second wave on Wednesday.
The total number of deaths in the district, including that of first wave has risen to eight, including the the 65-year-old. Source also said that the deceased was an Uncontrolled Diabetes patient, including Hypertension and a post kidney transplant patient.
According to District Health Department, 19 new cases were also detected on Wednesday, pushing the total number of COVID-19 positives cases in the district to 1653.
With 41 cases recovery on Wednesday, the total number of recovered cases stands at 1576 so far showing recovery rate of 95.3%.
As of Wednesday there are 69 active cases in Tamenglong district.

Meanwhile, Tamenglong Trader’s Association donated one oxygen concentrator to Tamenglong District hospital for Covid-19 patients. The Oxygen concentrator was handover to CMO I/c Tamenglong, Dr Gracy Majachunglu on Wednesday by Abuana Newmei and members of TTA. District Health Society conveyed it’s gratitude for the generous gesture shown by TTA.
On a separate occasion, Forest & Environment Minister, Awangbow Newmai also donated 2 Oxygen concentrator each for Tamei and Tousem, out of which one is to be placed in Tousem PHC, one in Oinamlong PHC and 2 to be placed in Tamei PHC.
